As a highly fashionable free spirit, Willow Smith adapts her wardrobe endlessly to suit her day-to-day mood. In keeping with this outlook, for last night’s Los Angeles premiere of Aladdin, Willow showcased a whole new side of her style identity. The entire Smith family might have been on hand to support Will Smith’s turn as the Genie in the live-action remake of the Disney classic, but Willow stole the show in a look from a designer she discovered on Instagram: the cult Romanian streetwear label Seen Users. With an open back and sweeping train, the blazer-dress hybrid was appropriately dramatic, amped up even further by Willow’s short shorts and crystal-embellished heels.
All combined, the pieces made for a sexy and confident outfit that highlighted a newly mature moment in Smith’s style evolution, representing an effort to show her in a fresh light. With bright coral lipstick by makeup artist Mylah Morales, and her dreads swept into an up-do by hairstylist Vernon Francois, Smith radiated carefree glamour. It’s something the red carpet could use more of.
