Miu Miu’s Star-Studded Runway Featured Storm Reid and Rita Ora

Celebrity cameos have become the norm during fashion month, but Miuccia Prada always manages to deliver a genuine surprise. Miu Miu’s fall/winter 2020 collection wrapped up the designer’s season by introducing a fresh set of muses who embody the brand’s feminine yet feisty vibe. Led by the actress Storm Reid, the 16-year-old star of Euphoria and A Wrinkle in Time, the show’s cast featured the moment’s top models alongside stars from film and music. The additions made for a lively experience; catwalk stars Adut Akech and Luna Bijl shared space with the rising star Iris Law, the gamine daughter of actors Jude Law and Sadie Frost. Rita Ora, the pop multi-tasker and longtime Miu Miu aficionado, sauntered through the Palais d’Iena with the confidence of a pro while supermodel sisters Bella and Gigi Hadid continued their month-long dominance of Europe’s runways.

Miu Miu has always cultivated a connection to Hollywood. Since its 1993 inception, the brand has aligned itself with famous women who represent its ideals. Everyone from nineties icons Drew Barrymore and Chloë Sevigny (who were featured in spring/summer 1995’s and spring/summer 1996’s campaigns, respectively) to Gen-Z it-girls like Elle Fanning (the current face of Miu Miu’s fragrance) have featured prominently in the brand’s advertising. In recent seasons the concept has crossed over to the runway, where stylist Katie Grand and casting director Anita Bitton regularly deliver guest appearances from the likes of Gwendoline Christie, Uma Thurman, and perennial favorite, Sevigny. Today’s show continues the tradition with an equally impressive group of faces, particularly the newcomer Reid. An actress and activist who is vocal about issues of racism and bullying, she has been an impressive addition to the season’s front rows.
