Growing up,Christmas holidays was a big deal in my home.We decorate our tree on the Christmas eve with beautiful ornaments. It was something that I look forward to every year.As I grow older,I passed on the tradition to my kids.No holiday is the same, just like my Christmas trees. So, this year is no exception.I like natural trees because of the way they smell.Waking up on Christmas morning with the smell of pine lingering around the house with a cup of coffee laced with cinnamon, hmmmm is all I want for Christmas.
I like artificial trees too.My mom used them all the time. It’s convenient, doesn’t make a mess, you save money every year so why not? I decided to do something new this year, which is buy an artificial tree.I’ll get a pine scented candles and oils to have the same effect as the natural tree scent….brilliant.My budget was $100,i won’t go over and I want a 7ft tree, yeah!
All my previous trees has been 6 feet and so if I’m going to throw in a little more money,I deserve an inch taller.I skipped the malls because I know how much a 7ft Christmas tree cost.Don’t even ask for a pre-lit ones, they ranges from $200-$3000s at Macys.
National Tree 7 .5’Feel Real Chesterfield Spruce Hinged Tree with 650 Dual Color LED Lights
Sale $474.00 was $1,580.00
I made the trip to Target. They were less expensive but you can get a 6 feet tree for $150-$500. I didn’t want to compromise my budget. Then,an idea came from an unlikely source. There’s a Goodwill store in my area that I frequently visit. Its like a treasure hunt for me any time I go but I haven’t seen a Christmas tree there even though I bought a 70 pieces Christmas ornaments from there earlier for $6.99. I saw the same one in target for $35.99.Many people think Goodwill stores are filled with dingy clothes but not the one in my area. They’re clean, most of their clothing and furniture still have the tags on it. I decorated my entire home with stuff that I bought from there but a Christmas tree ? No way! I was wrong, I found one in a box, came in three pieces.I looked at the complete design and the picture on the box…it was 7.5 feet pre-lit Christmas tree and the price $15.
I bought it and since it was still new, I just put it together and decorated it with the ornaments I got for $6.99.
I saved $85,enough money to buy gifts for my loved ones. The other reason why I shop at the Goodwill beside the deals, is all the money goes into charity. It gives me a sense of fulfillment knowing I contributed to a good cause. So, the next time you pass by a Goodwill, don’t hesitate to check it out. You’ll be surprise at the deals you find and how much money you can save. Merry Christmas,Happy Holidays to you all.
